GETA – Greening Education Transformation Agenda

The roadmap for nationwide change

GETA is the by-product of GERAP and GERAP. It consolidates findings into a national transformation agenda — a strategic roadmap that guides how Nigeria implements and scales sustainable education.

GERAP – Greening Education Response and Action Plan

Turning insights into action

Following each GERAP assessment, GERAP develops tailored state-level response and action plans. These plans specify practical interventions, responsibilities, and resources needed to drive greening education on the ground.

GERAP – Greening Education Readiness Assessment Plan

Laying the foundation for transformation

GERAP is our diagnostic framework. It assesses the readiness of schools, states, and institutions to integrate sustainability, highlighting strengths, gaps, and actionable priorities.

GEAS – Greening Education Accreditation Scheme

Certifying sustainability in education

GEAS sets standards and provides accreditation for schools and institutions that embed environmental literacy and sustainable practices into their teaching and operations.

GESA – Greening Education Summit & Awards

Recognizing innovation and leadership

GESA celebrates excellence by showcasing best practices, honoring champions, and fostering collaboration across sectors committed to greening education.

EMA – Europe Meets Africa

Building bridges for sustainable futures

EMA strengthens international partnerships, enabling knowledge exchange, policy dialogue, and joint initiatives between Europe and Africa.

Green Education Readiness Action Plan (GERAP)

The Greening Education Readiness Action Plan (GERAP) is a strategic framework designed to assess and strengthen Nigeria’s preparedness for the implementation of the Greening Education Transformation Agenda (GETA). GERAP provides a structured approach for identifying gaps, mapping opportunities, and building the foundational systems needed to green Nigeria’s education sector in line with national priorities and global climate commitments.

As part of this process, readiness assessments have already been conducted in three pilot states — Bauchi, Katsina, and Niger, with three additional states to follow. These assessments examine critical areas such as school infrastructure, teacher capacity, curriculum integration, youth engagement, and community mobilization. The findings are guiding personalized state-level action plans to ensure each state is adequately equipped to roll out the GETA framework.

Through GERAP, Nigeria is ensuring that the transition towards climate-smart education is not only visionary but also practical, evidence-based, and responsive to local realities. By starting with readiness, the plan guarantees that investments in green education will have the highest impact, creating a scalable model for nationwide adoption.
