Green Nigeria Partnership – GEP

OUR MISSION

To build a block-chain greening society by getting every learner climate-ready.

Four (4) pillars of action headed by the National Focal Point.

  1. Greening Schools
  2. Greening Curriculum
  3. Greening Teacher Training education system’s capacities and,
  4. Greening communities.

At the country level, Greening Education Partnership-Nigeria (GEP-Nigeria) is the National Coodinating Agency established to deliver a well-coordinated action between all relevant stakeholders including governments, education institutions, Non-governmental organizations, communities and private bodies on the effective implementation of GEP programs and activities to “get every learner climate-ready” in Nigeria through 4 pillars of action headed by the National Focal Point.

1. Greening Schools

From early childhood through adult education, work to ensure that all schools achieve green school accreditation, including teacher training and higher education.

2. Greening Curriculum

Embrace lifelong learning approach that integrates climate education into school curricula, technical and vocational education, workplace skills development, teaching materials, pedagogy, and assessment.

3. Greening Teacher Training Education system’s Capacities.

Strengthen education systems to be climate-smart with adequate measures, and ensure teachers and policymakers are trained in school accreditation, including teacher training and higher education.

4. Greening Communities

Strengthen community resilience by integrating climate education into lifelong learning, with a focus on empowering and mobilizing your individuals, community centers, and learning cities to take action on climate change.

Key action points of GEP Nigeria

Inspire

GEP Nigeria Inspires individuals, schools, communities to engage in green practices and embrace lifelong learning approach that integrates climate education into school curricula, technical and vocational education, workplace skills development, teaching materials, pedagogy and assessment. This shall be done through capacity building and training, accreditation and certification process.

Influence

GEP Nigeria Influences policy and decision makers on creating and formulating policies to strengthen education systems to be climate-smart with adequate measures towards greening the society. This shall be done through advocacy, engagement and sensitization process.

Implement

GEP Nigeria implements greening programs and projects with a focus on empowering and mobilizing young individuals’ community centers, and learning cities to take action on climate change. This shall be done through transnational cooperation on establishment of GreenCorps, setting up of skillsvillage Hubs and international Exchange programs.
